• Cheryl Perry from the Town of Cary is hoping to transition to the ADHS Business Alliance from Dillard Drive BA.  She has a freshman at ADHS.
• Amy Schroeder is our new CDC.  She has a background in education and comes to Athens from State Farm and is very motivated to get started!
• Justin Kulow is a teacher at Athens Drive working with the Occupational Course of Study Program.
• Theron Stallworth is the newest member of the Administrative Team at ADHS.

Principal’s Report:  Mr. Crockett

• School Announcements:
• The Women’s Basketball Team had a very successful year with a 25-3 record.
• PTSA 4.0 Academic Awards Celebration was held, Bill Atkinson, WakeMed CEO was a speaker.
• The 2nd Annual Dancathon was held March 2nd to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
• March 12-14 Athens to hold the Regional Band Festival
• District Announcements:
• School Board voted to spend $200k for a curriculum audit
• Mr. Crockett reviewed the NC State Board of Education Goals – visit link

CDC Report:  Amy

• Amy has been trying to meet with as many students as possible as she begins her new role at Athens.
• Xtreme Beginnings will be held April 12th at the McKimmon Center from 9:15-12.  80 volunteers are needed for practice interviews.  This event has gone from hosting 120 students to over 600 this year.  This year, a new session is offered, focusing on businesses that want to hire students right out of high school.  For more information, please see link: http://www.wcpss.net/school_to_career/xtreme_beginnings/2007/index.html
• One of Amy’s goals is to get as many presenters into classrooms as possible.
• For May’s meeting Amy will get 1 or 2 students to provide feedback from Xtreme Beginnings.

Student Report:  Atrin updated us on the Technology survey and new plans to distribute in homeroom in March

February Faculty Meeting:  Charlie attended the February meeting. 

• There was a presentation on Autism
• Charlie noted how hard it was to get the Faculty together at one time, but how important it is to communicate common goals and direction.

Technology – Doug Foster

• Project #1 Wireless & Viper – We think this has been installed, since there is a wireless signal in the Media Center – will verify @ next meeting.
• Project # 2: Technology Survey – Will be distributed during March homeroom.
• Project # 3: ADTV Pod Cast – in process, trying to get permanent networking capabilities in ATV lab

Occupational Course of Study:  Justin Kulow

• This is a diploma track curriculum
• Started 5-7 years ago
• Generally for students not pursuing a higher education degree
• To graduate on this curriculum, students need 300 hours of work on campus, and 600 hours community based training.  240 hours are volunteer, 360 are paid hours.
• Job coaches are available until the student is comfortable in the setting.
