Welcome and Introduction- Don Shupe
Bill Muench, founder of ADHS Alliance, gave us some background on how the
Alliance was founded. Bill is now teaching.
April meeting minutes were accepted and put on record.
Review of Action Registrar and Decision Register - Kelly Constantinetis
- The following items were closed on the Action Register:
- Contact Teacher Partners and work with them as needs arise
- Alliance Notes Distribution
- Check on Publicity for Career Development Success Story
- Letter to Gov’t Reps
- Talk to Representatives to find out the best method for Alliance to promote
funding for CTE
- Jane to work with Chris Droessler on and N&O article on Drew’s
success story
- The following items were Continued to Next Year on the Action Register:
- Discuss specifics on “Make it Real” Design and Build project
with Rich Kromer
- Career Development Success Story – Ashish
- Doug to email Kathy Career to School Video Conferencing proposal
- Send Handbook file to Chris Droessler
- Contact Mary Mason about recruiting/partnering with and individual to
support Hispanic students

Kelly will discuss Decision Register with Wayne to determine if items needs
to be added
Technology Kiosk update - Rich Kromer
- Rich went over the "plan" for the kiosk competition for the 1st semester of
the 2005-2006 school year.
- 2-3 BA members will present task, parameters of
project, budget and rules.
- Marketecture will present to students how they would approach the task.
- Alliance will need to determine a budget, anticipating phase 2 of the project,
which is the production of the kiosk in the 2nd semester. This will be the interdiscipline
phase of the project.
- Kelly will contact Rich at the beginning of next semester
for final planning.
CDC Review - Jane Dodge
- Senators Janet Cowell and Neal Hunt toured Athens Drive and
visited CTE classes in May. Several Business Alliance members,
including student members, participated. Both Senators were impressed
by the variety of CTE classes offered.
- David Rockefeller, Wake County CTE Director, requested
2 Business Alliance members attend County Commissioner’s
meeting on June 6th. Doug Foster (or Cisco rep) and Mike Cranford
will attend to represent local business support for CTE funding.
- CTE Champions luncheon was successful. F4K’s
Geoff Kramer spoke about choosing a career that we feel passionate
about.
- Senior CTE Champions Scholarship awarded to Leigh
Strache. This award was sponsored by Gregory Poole, but would
like others to share in the sponsorship.
- Several Alliance members attended the CTE Marketing Picnic,
held on April 27th.
- STP’s due May 20th!
- Mike Cranford and Gregory Poole will host a CDC meeting on September 13th, sharing information about careers, internships and apprenticeships.
- BELC Celebration is September 20th, Wake Forest Road, 7:30-9:30
2005-2006 Brainstorming Session- All
- Discussion of Teacher-Alliance Partnership
- Was not as successful as we had hoped. Teachers have strict curriculum and would like to have speakers, but time is a constraint.
- We discussed focusing on 1 or 2 disciplines next year and if that goes well, word of mouth may get other departments involved.
- Bill Muench brought up us possibly having an impact on the Hispanic
student population. Edna and Kathy will contact Mary Mason regarding how
the Alliance could most effectively have an impact.
- Amy mentioned a successful career fair at Cary High School targeted
at students who were planning to enter workforce immediately after graduation.
Jane will research the details this further with Susan Blackley, Cay High
School.
