Introduction
Members introduced themselves by providing name, company represented and something big in their life.

Review of Alliance Manual - Wayne Tindle
Copies of the manual were available for each member. Wayne discussed the different sections of the manual. The manual contains the responsibilities of each Alliance position (chairman, co-chair, team leaders and team members). The 2004 - 2005 Steering Team members are Wayne Tindle, Kathy Chontos, Witold Sieradzan, Don Shupe, Jane Dodge, Edna Vann, Joy Frankoff
   Action Item - Wayne will provide Charlie Nobles a revised soft copy of the manual for printing by Wednesday, September 21st.

Review of School Improvement Plan and Data - Kathy Chontos
Kathy shared data on ADHS student achievement. Interesting facts included:

  • The average SAT score for 04 – 05 was 1098. Well above both the state and national level.
  • ADHS is ranked third in Wake County for student performance at 89.2%.
    • 22 nd in NC (this includes traditional, private, charter, etc. schools)
    • 11 th in NC for traditional schools
    • Green Hope and Apex were ranked 1 st & 2 nd respectively.
    • This means that in NC, three of the top 11 student performance schools are in Wake County .

The three main Student Improvement Plan Goals, Key Processes and Action Steps for the period of 2005 – 2008 for ADHS are:

  1. By 2008 95% of students will be at or above grade level as measured by the NC EOS tests.
  2. Provide a safe, orderly, caring and healthy environment for all students.
  3. Students, parents, PTSA, staff and BA members and partners will participate in and support the total school program.

CDC Report – Jane Dodge
Jane provided sheet with news, forthcoming programs, and opportunities.

  • “Creativity Counts” Career Fair November 8 th, 10am – 12:15pm ADHS Gym. Seeking BA members to participate in areas of technology, science, art, music, drama, brand, sales/marketing, etc. Emphasize is on exposing students to different career opportunities. Helping them to see how their talents and creativity can be used in a career.
       Action Item - Contact Jane Dodge for more information and to volunteer to have an exhibit.
  • The School Improvement Plan is not due until October.
       Action ItemJane Dodge will email the SIP form to team leaders and advise of the due date.
  • Business Alliance Countywide Celebration is Tuesday, September 20 th at One Renaissance Center , located off Wake Forest Road behind Bahama Breeze. 7:30 – 9:30 . Email kirkpatrick1@wcpss.net and copy Jane Dodge on email ASAP.
  • Charlie Nobles, Bradley Valentine and Jane Dodge manned the Alliance booth during the Parent Open House.
  • Mike Cranford and Richard Donnelly of Gregory Poole did a presentation for all CDC’s concerning opportunities for technical, financial and other careers.
       Action Item - All Alliance members need to update their WCPSS registration. This can be completed on any Wake Co. School computer. Go to https://volunteer

2005 – 2006 Brainstorming Session – Wayne Tindle
Alliance members wrote ideas for the Alliance on sticky notes and they were placed under the appropriate BA team.

Team Breakout
Each BA team determined their program for the 2005 – 2006 year utilizing the ideas obtained in the brainstorming session.
