Update from Dan Laffey: 

  • Podcast can go up at anytime, just need to coordinate with Doug. 
  • Dan will be pursuing education as it relates to youtube.com where small videos are recorded and uploaded.  63,000 videos are uploaded to the site everyday.

Principal’s Report: Mr. Crockett

  • The faculty at ADHS sees the Business Alliance as an important resource.
  • As of the 10th day of enrollment, 1,891 students at ADHS.  Staffing was adequate for 1,828 so three teachers will be added.
  • ADHS has partnered with Target and will be receiving $700.
  • The Booster Club partnered with Outback to raise money by selling steak dinners.
  • A “master” calendar will be added to the ADHS website.
  • ADHS is focused on getting more scholarships this year and getting more scholarship info to students.
  • Mr. Crockett discussed the faculty handbook and the focus on business and community.  Mr. Crockett will bring the plan to next month’s meeting.

CDC Report:  Jane Dodge

  • Athens Drive Open House will be Sept 14th – Wake Tech scheduled to present Gaming and Technology program
  • School- to-Career Celebration to be held September 26th, 7:30-9:30 at Renaissance Center
  • Creativity Counts Career Fair will be held Nov 8th.  Each BA member is encouraged to have an exhibit.

Reschedule Alliance Monthly Meetings:

  • Members agreed to begin having our monthly meetings on the first Friday of each month.
  • The next monthly meeting will be held on Friday, October 6th.

Student Report:  Bradley, Atrin and Emma

  • Student members indicated that the ADHS student body was very involved in sports, clubs and activities

Strategies to Recruit New Members

  • Francis will temporarily serve on the Membership committee
  • Jane and Francis have discussed recruiting options and this discussion has been tabled for now.

Team Strategic Plan Review:

  • Teams reviewed strategic plans and focused on their priority areas.

Important Dates and Business Alliance Participation: 

  • September 14th is the ADHS Open House
  • September 18th is the faculty meeting – Joy and Witold to represent Alliance
  • September 26th is the School to Career Celebration

New Business: 

  • ADHS is looking for scholarships – let Jane know if you have suggestion
  • Looking for ways for ADHS faculty to take advantage of BA members’ skills and resources
Next Alliance meeting will be held Friday, October 6th at Athens Drive Media Center.
