Welcome – Wayne Tindle

CDC Report – Jane Dodge
Jane provided an information sheet and a slideshow of the Creativity Counts Career Fair on November 8 th at Athens Drive High School .

  • Faculty, parents, local Universities and Community Colleges, Business Alliance Members (and families), Military recruiters and local businesses were represented at the fifty-exhibit career fair.
  • Syeda and Bradley thought the fair was very well received by the students.
  • 800+ students participated in total, including groups of students from 30 teachers.

Wireless Access in Library – Betty Williams

  • Wireless Access is currently being tested in the Cameron Village Library. All branches in the Wake County Public Library system will be wireless by July 2006.
  • Doug asked if Cisco or the Alliance could do anything to facilitate a more timely or effective “go-live” with the wireless access, i.e. Training, installation, signage, etc. Betty will let us know when Lenny gets further into the scheduling/specifics.

Principal Report – Kathy Chontos

  • Doug, Don, Amy and Joy spoke to senior homerooms about interviewing skills. There was very good feedback from teachers and students.
  • Kathy has accepted a promotion as assistant superintendent and will be leaving us in January. We will miss you, Kathy, but Congratulations and Good Luck!

Staff Development/Leadership Team Meeting

  • Amy arranged the 20-minute homeroom presentations and it was the general consensus that 20 minutes was the right amount of time. The teachers could give up 20 minutes of time and the speakers were able to keep the students' attention for that amount of time.
  • Amy presented the Alliance Speakers Resource list. Should teachers request a speaker, contact info is available through Amy or Edna.
