Vision Statement
Members of the ADHS Freshman Transition Team envision a school within ADHS which
ensures that each freshman, despite his or her challenges,
will
transition
smoothly and will be promoted to the 10th grade.
Mission Statement
The mission of ADHS Freshman Transition is to provide each student with the tools
and resources necessary to ensure academic excellence as
they transition to high school.
-
We accomplish this mission by providing systems and structures which lead to measurable results.
-
Our systems include interventions for Conduct, Academic, and Social-Emotional (CASE) issues because we know that at any given moment our freshmen need assistance with one or more of these areas.
-
We believe that implementing appropriate interventions - whatever the CASE may be - in a timely fashion leads to our success and the success of ADHS Freshmen!
SMART Goal
By June of 2013, 90% or more of the ADHS Freshman Class of 2016 will
meet North Carolina promotion requirments.
Audacious Goal
100% promotion, 0% retention of ADHS class of 2016!
Suggested Summer Reading
The suggested readings are Great Expectations and A Separate Peace. While not
mandatory reading, the following texts are suggested (recommended)
summer reading
for our
freshmen.
These classics
have been
chosen
specifically
because they
are equivalents in genre, style, and Lexile Scores to the
classic world literature read in Honors and Academic English
I.
